Dear LEAP Family,
It is truly an honor to serve in this new role of Medical Director with LEAP Global Missions. It was 17 years ago that I went on my first mission trip with LEAP to Laos. I was a surgery resident, excited and somewhat nervous, so I spent a good part of the flight over reviewing my notes on the technical details of a cleft lip repair. I was prepared to give with what I had learned so far in training. I did not expect to receive and was not prepared for the emotional and spiritual effect this trip would have on me. I have consistently found each trip since then to be a humbling experience as I witness God’s love at work through our volunteers, our partners, and our patients.
I have the utmost respect for Dr. Hobar and what he has developed with LEAP Global Missions. I do not intend to fill his shoes. I don’t think that’s actually possible. Instead, I ask for your prayers and support as we transition together to continue the mission and grow the legacy of this unique organization.
